Like a lot of the Men-at-Arms series, this is a fairly dry entry, at least in terms of the text. Informative, but not very exciting, since it's mostly recapitulations. The real value is in the photographs and drawings, which are important in this particular volume, given the "native" influence of many of the uniforms.

A good summary but rather sparse for the money, and surprising factual errors. The First Division did not deploy with four brigades as stated in the text and in a table. The pre-war Permanent Force did not have three cavalry regiments. This is pretty basic stuff.

This survey by one of Osprey's regular authors I found this most useful for its coverage of Canadian fortifications, as one would hope considering that Chartrand's profession had been the management of historic sites in Canada.
