I would have loved this twenty years ago. It’s clever, funny, brainy, absurd poetry and flash prose, with a whiff of pataphysics to go with it. It’s combining lines from different children’s songs to create new contexts. It’s rewriting famous haikus into limericks. It’s warping the names of beloved characters from picture books into something strange. It’s…um, clever. I already said that, didn’t I? But this slim book (by an author I always tend to read too quickly) lacks purpose. A heart. TEETH. I’m left with a lukewarm feeling and a chuckle or two.… (més)
