This book about Langston Hughes offer full biography of the poet. It starts with his childhood. It talks about his ambitions and what sparked those ambitions. This is one of a series of African American books.

These books could be very useful in a 6th grade class set up. I remember looking at the books which my teacher had on display for black history month. It was not Langston Hughes who caught my attention it as the women who not only fought against racism but sexism as well.

I like this book as a research project. Having the students use the series first to ask question about the people they read about then looking them up on various sources. I could also just read to them about Langston and do a wax museum presentation of different African American heroes.… (més)
