Improper UTF-8/Unicode Display on Catalog Page

I have this book:
The essence of Dōgen Takahashi (1983)
When displayed in the catalog the Subject shows as
Do�gen, 1200-1253
But clicking on the subject brings up
Subject: Dōgen, 1200-1253
In case this comes out wrong in the forum the "o" with a line over it displays properly in several places, but wrong in the Subject column of a "your books" listing.
