The Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Society was formed in 1951 and includes the Virginia counties of Stafford, King George, Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland and Lancaster. The Society maintains a research library at its Headquarters in Montross, Virginia (Westmoreland County). The collection includes about 2,000 books, periodicals and family files. Its annual magazine is titled "The Northern Neck of Virginia Historical Magazine."
