Chapter 5, the meat of the book with its scene-specific analysis, was excellent. The earlier chapters, describing the Oulipo and how its approach can be applied to film noir, were interesting but couched far too scholarly for my tastes, leaving me eye-rolling at their inability to enlighten like a normal person.
