Erotic Literature. Fiction. Romance. LGBTQIA+ (Fiction.) HTML:

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to Nora Sutherlin and, whichever one she chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make. Unless someone makes it for her...

Wes Railey is the object of Nora's tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can't forget. He's young. He's wonderful. He's also thoroughbred royalty and, reuniting with him in Kentucky, she's in his world now. But this infamous New York dominatrix is no simpering Southern belle, and Nora's dream of fitting into Wesley's world is perpetually at odds with the relentlessly seductive pull of Søren--her owner, her lover, the forever she cannot have. At least, not completely.

Meanwhile Nora's associate Kingsley Edge is only too happy to take her place at Søren's feet during her hiatus. Søren is the only man Kingsley has ever loved, and their dark, shared history has forged a bond that neither the years--nor Søren's love for Nora--can break. But a new threat from an old adversary is forcing Kingsley to confront the past, reminding him that he must keep his friends close, and his enemies

this book dragged for me a little bit at the end, ngl. i didn't appreciate the way the chapters bounced back and forth from past to present to nora's present, almost always ending on little cliffhangers that you'd have to wait 2 chapters to get back to. i think i would have rather had the st. ignatius chapters all at the beginning, and then all of the present chapters after.

definitely my least favorite were the north (present) chapters, they really paled in comparison to the other chapters. the st. ignatius chapters were the high points of the book but i will say i miss not knowing so much about soren. i think as reisz tells us more about soren and why he is the way he is, the world these characters are in becomes more and more distanced from reality. what i loved about The Siren was that it felt sophisticated and nuanced and i felt like the plot was not overshadowing what was more important - nora's relationships with the men in her life. but as the series has gone on and we've learned more about nora's past, and soren's past, the rest of the plot has become blown out and kind of ridiculous.
this book following a (fairly obvious) mystery and ending with nora's kidnapping feels very cheap? to me. i feel like i was reading one thing and now i'm reading something totally different.

i don't doubt reisz's ability to write an enjoyable finale but at the same time... i'm feeling kind of disappointed with the way things are going.

quotes:

~~
Only one person had he ever loved more. But the one he loved more, he hated with equal passion. He wished that the mathematics of the world were like the mathematics of the heart - then his equal love and hate would mean he felt nothing instead of double.
~~
"You bought a French-blue shirt just to wear for me? Not even knowing if you'd see me again?"
"No," Wesley dipped his head and kissed her quickly on the lips. "I bought five of them."
~~
"What are you praying for, mon ami?" Kingsley had asked.
"What I've been praying for every day since I met you," Stearns said, twisting the beads around his hand.
"And what is that?"
Stearns opened his hand to display the rosary beads he'd weaved between his fingers like a spiderweb.
"Strength."
~~
Something touched his face. A hand? No, a pair of perfect lips. The lips moved from his forehead to his cheek and settled onto his mouth. The kiss lasted an eternity and ended all too soon.
"My name is Soren."
Kingsley nodded and prepared words of his own. "Je t'aime," he replied in the language God spoke.
I love you.
~~
But whenever he thought of the pad of Stearn's thumb caressing the pulse point on his wrist, Kingsley wanted to sink to his knees, sit at Stearn's feet and stay there forever.
~~
His prayers had been answered. Perhaps. Or perhaps his prayers were being punished. Heaven and hell became meaningless words to Kingsley. Heaven was now, this moment underneath Stearns. Hell had been every moment before and would be every moment after.
~~
"You can tell me anything. It would be an honor to hear your confession."
"Only don't absolve me, s'il vous plait. I would miss my sins and they would miss me."
~~
"You blond monster," Kingsley said, shoving him.
Soren laughed and shoved back with twice the grace and ten times the force. Kingsley ended up on his back again, with Soren straddling his thighs.
"Say it," Soren ordered. "Apologize."
He pinned Kingsley down hard to the ground.
"I'm sorry, sir."
"Good boy."
~~
What he felt... he felt used, owned, like property, like a slave, treasured, wanted, needed, like an object of infinite value so coveted Soren had lowered himself to theft to make Kingsley his own.
~~
"Je suis le votre. J'etais toujours le votre, monsieur." I am yours. I have always been yours, sir.
"Oui. Tu es le mien." Yes, you are mine.
Kingsley froze, not able, not willing to move. For the first time in thirty years, Soren had called Kingsley his. He'd waited decades for this moment.
~~
"Give me relief and you will own me for eternity," Kingsley pledged.
"My body, my heart, my soul... take it all if you'll only let me..."
"I already own you."
~~
God, how he loved Soren. Loved him. Loved him like a father, like a brother, like a friend and a lover... and loved him like the enemy that forced him to be stronger, smarter, wiser, braver. Soren had become everything to him... Kingsley opened his eyes and saw not Soren, but God at the piano, and knew he'd chosen the right man to worship. Even now he would fall on his knees before him.

I don't think I breathed through the last few chapters.

Tiffany's Original Sinners series gets better and better with each installment. The Prince features more of my favorite character, Mr. Kingsley Edge, and gives interesting background into his life and his relationship with everyone's favorite priest, Soren. I LOVE the way Tiffany organized this book. She gives us North (past and present) with King and Soren, and South with Nora and Wes, who've gone to Kentucky (woo hoo!) so Wes can introduce Nora to "his world." The Prince of Kentucky takes Nora to meet his family, good ol' southern aristocrats. Wes' dad is not a fan of Nora's by any means, but Wes' mother seems much more...not an asshole. There's a lot of twists and turns in both the North and South that make this book so addictive. And, you know, King.

I'm anxiously awaiting (and by anxiously awaiting, I mean completely freaking out) for the Mistress. Because our wonderful, sadistic author has left us with a cliffhanger that makes the Angel's ending seem like warm chocolate chip cookies.

Darn you, Tiffany. ( )

I am NOT a fan of love triangles! I know that what's going on is wayyyy more complicated than that but UGH. I am feeling...things. I really don't know what to call these novels. They aren't romance novels. This was definitely more suspenseful that the others and that CLIFFHANGER THO. Ohh man...Soren 'gon KILL someone and I love it. ( )

THE PRINCE is the latest release in Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series and I can hardly believe how much more enamored I am with the characters and story with each subsequent book. Instead of the fatigue that sometimes comes along with characters and storylines where you wonder where else the author could plausibly lead you, this series get more and more fascinating with each layer that's peeled back. Even though the Original Sinners might be classified as BDSM because of the lifestyles portrayed, I've found them to be very sensual rather than explicit.

THE SIREN introduced our cast and each book has focused on one or two characters in this beautiful tapestry of the lives lived on the edge. THE ANGEL gave us more insight into the history of our beloved sinners and with THE PRINCE, things get really juicy. The prince referred to in the title could be Father Stearns, Jesuit priest and prince of the church. Or it could be Wes Railey, Nora's darling roommate, earlier revealed to be the sole heir to a wealthy southern horse racing dynasty and aptly nicknamed The Prince of Kentucky. Or it could be Kingsley Edge, the machiavellian prince of New York's underground scene, whose history with Nora Sutherlin and Soren seems to be key to all the books.

We learn how Soren and Kingsley met and the story flashes between their past and a threat from that time, brought out in the present. Nora is given Soren's blessing to reunite with Wesley and we see our favorite writer out of her element but still maintaining control. There is also an unnamed, unseen threat to the three principals resurrected from Soren and Kingsley's past casting a shadow over the proceedings.

I don't want to give too much away except to say that THE PRINCE deals with the beginnings of our characters relationships. I stress the word relationships, instead of friendships and acquaintances, though those are there too but it's the relationships that entangled them all together which will keep you reading. Ms. Reisz has once again proven that she's a formidable, sophisticated talent able to blend elements of romance, mystery, suspense, sensuality and pathos. This is a must read. ( )

It's been a week since I finished reading The Prince and still I'm reeling. Mostly this is the story of Soren and Kingsley, it's who I was reading this book for. It's who I felt for. Even through Nora talking about Soren with Wes.

To be completely honest, I don't like Wes. *gasp* He doesn't understand Nora and he doesn't belong to her world. His relationship with her is like a parody on Christian Grey and Ana, but with a much more realistic ending. Unless he discovers his inner goddess I can't see how he would fit in. At the moment he is a lost puppy Nora indulges and pampers, cute, adorable... He might be something that Nora wants but not needs. And I think she understands it perfectly well.

He on the other hand naively believes that his virginal love with heal her of her kink. *snort* Yes, just like Ana. The same belief that the right woman will heal someone from a homosexualism, as if it is some kind of disease.

So, if the passages describing Nora playing Mrs. Robinson with Wes were amusing, Kingsley and Soren together were spellbinding. Tiffany did warn me, that The Prince is darker that the other two books, and it is. It's very harsh but at the same time it's gripping and realistic, there is nothing gratuitous about the sadistic nature of Soren or Kingsley's love for him when these two were teenagers. They seemed to need each other like air. However twisted their love might have looked like there was certain harmony to it.

Tiffany Reisz keeps us on even finer, sharper edge of erotic thriller with this story. Be prepared for the ending that leaves you just as gobsmacked as it left me. I wanted to scream and kick something in frustration, I needed the next book! It was an exhilarating, dangerous, glorious ride, an exploration of human need for pain and pleasure, that left me aching for more. Highly recommended.

UPD: Re-read it in May 2014. Still awesome! ( )
