Cute and funny, from the Click, Clack, Moo author.

Has some funny moments, but ultimately falls a little flat. Film Noir is not a style that kids are generally familiar with, so it needs more hand-holding. That being said, the 7-year-old asked for it again the next night. The pictures are great, although some towards the end get caught in the gutter. I love the book design overall- text size, ratio of text to art. It's perfect for newly proficient readers. ( )

The chicken squad is about a funny group of chickens who solve mysteries and fight crime. They are all different chickens and have different strengths and personalities. This is a good early chapter book because it has few words on each page and illustrations. Would use this for primary to third. Illustrations: mixed media ( )

These are becoming very popular for the kids right now, they just love these books! They take students on adventures of solving mysteries. It get their brains going, thinking of what is going to happen next, they try to solve it before they have finished reading. ( )
