There is a powerful message about making the world a kinder place I love how simple and kind this book is. It teaches children to see the beauty in the little things in life and to reach out your hand whenever you can help. This book is calm and heartfelt. The illustrations are simple yet beautiful. This is not a story in the traditional approach to stories it tells of different scenarios in life when you feel lost or sad or confused about how to reach out to someone who may feel the same way you do. I love this book, I think kindness and sympathy and empathy is difficult to teach to young children, and this book begins the journey for children. This book is a unique and simple look on how to be kind and thoughtful to others. Throughout the book children are doing things that make them or someone else happy or comforted. This is a good learning book because you can teach kids to be helpful and kind, as well as another language because every sentence has the words in Spanish below it also. The children I read this book too enjoyed the read. I would suggest maybe an older elementary level though because younger kids give up listening if they don't know what you are saying after a while. A good classroom extension activity would be to have the children point out things in the book that made others happy and then get in groups and reenact those things.
