His is a story of courage and survival, sacrifice and death. The boy who became the great Genghis Khan would take his people from the brink of survival to near-world domination—and lead the largest empire ever created in the lifetime of one man. Based on both history and legend, Demi’s classic story takes readers into a world of battle and victory—and shows why Genghis Khan has gone down in history as the greatest conqueror of all time.

A biography of Genghis Khan who was a military strategist and "the supreme master of the largest empire ever created in the lifetime of one man". This biography tells the story of Genghis from birth to death and the rise of his empire. The illustrations are beautiful as the author ties a theme of metallic gold into all illustrations. The use of the metallic design provides a sense of empire and rule of the Mongolians.

The book has 64 pages which makes its a rather long read, although it is an easy read. The author uses the structure of several sentences on each page. The illustrator uses a specific structure for the illustrations as well.
As the biography is of a military strategist, it does come with violent tendencies, therefore, I would want to use this with older students. ( )
