It was at the International Symposium on Creatures of Legendry, held in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1878, that the eminent late folklorist, Wayland D. Hand of the University of California's Centre for Studies in Comparative Folklore and Mythology at Los Angeles, referred to me as "biology's gift to folklore."
