She finally discovers something she is good at and turns her life around. fun read. I would never have normally picked this up, but one of my novel-writing guidebooks uses it as an example, so I checked it out from the library. It was fun, mostly believable, the pacing was interesting, and it totally followed the "beats" of Save the Cat! Writes a Novel. Still it would not be my preferred cup of tea. After some dabbling in the genre, it seems that modern romance chick-lit is not really my thing. Unless there is some magical realism or cozy murder thrown in! LOL! is one star maybe harsh? ehhh, i think it is fine because it isn't like i'm raining on anyone's parade since it is 2021 and no one who liked this novel even remembers it. why is this stuff always so empty? if a novel isn't genuinely funny (intentionally or otherwise), it won't be funny and light. i choose novels like this in the same way i choose to watch a syndicated network sitcom late at night--in defiance of everything i know about these products. finally, i have read better descriptions of clothes in Sleepover Friends novels. HTML:??A hilarious tale . . . hijinks worthy of classic I Love Lucy episodes . . . too good to pass up.???USA Today Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London??s trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season??s must-haves. The only trouble is, she can??t actually afford it??not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn??t pay much at all. And lately Becky??s been chased by dismal letters from the bank??letters with large red sums she can??t bear to read. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Her only consolation is to buy herself something . . . just a little something. Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life??and the lives of those around her??forever. BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Sophie Kinsella??s Shopaholic to the Stars. Praise for Sophie Kinsella and Confessions of a Shopaholic ??Kinsella??s Bloomwood is plucky and funny. . . . You won??t have to shop around to find a more winning protagonist.???People ??If a crème brûlée could be transmogrified into a book, it would be Confessions of a Shopaholic.???The Star-Ledger ??A have-your-cake-and-eat-it romp, done with brio and not a syllable of moralizing. . . .
