"Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears: A West African Tale," is a cute tale of why how the mosquito became the pest we know today. The story begins with the mosquito telling the iguana nonsense and the iguana putting sticks in her ears to ignore mosquito. This causes a chain of events that cause trouble throughout the woods. All of the animals gather together and figure out that the mosquito is to blame and how upset they are at mosquito. The mosquito, being afraid, flies away and now flies up to people’s ears, asking if the animals are still mad at her, “Zee, is everyone still mad at me?”
This story has wonderful pictures and would be a good story to use for cause and effect.

The setting of this story is on an African Plain. This book is full of vivid colors and animals bringing the plains of Africa to life. Young children will like this repetitive rhyming tale of how rain was magically brought to the plain during a time of drought.
