Featuring readings by Writers Foundry faculty members Chris Adrian, Timothy Small, and Jackson Taylor, Greenlight poet Angel Nafis, and young writers from the New York Writers Coalition workshops Hosted by Laurie Cumbo After party at Greenlight Greenlight Bookstore is honored to partner with the New York Writers Coalition to present the 9th annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival! This year’s free outdoor reading features young writers (6-18 year olds) reading alongside faculty writers from the newly formed The Writers Foundry at St. Joseph’s College and other up-and-coming Brooklyn-based poets. The Masters of Ceremonies will be Laurie Cumbo, former director and founder of the acclaimed Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA). This exciting event brings several generations of writers together to build on the literary traditions of the neighborhoods surrounding beautiful Fort Greene Park. Afterwards, the public is invited to Greenlight Bookstore for an after-party and time to mingle with the day’s fabulous readers.

Gob's Grief and The Childrens Hospital, and a collection of short stories, A Better Angel. His fiction has appeared in The Paris Review, The New Yorker, Esquire, and McSweeney's. He is a student at Harvard Divinity School, and recently began training as a fellow in pediatric hematology-oncology at the University of California, San Francisco Please note: this is an off-site event to be held at the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, MA.
