Every now and then I come across a book that touches my soul. Usually, it is a book that caught me unaware. Rarely, is it a book that I thought would change my life. This was that book for me.

It doesn't follow a cookie cutter plot line. It takes those pre made fabricated stories and tosses the conventions out the window. This book followed the beat of its own drummer by creating a poignant story of a girl trying to survive with the guy that saved her. It isn't rushed. The feelings grow and in the process.so does the love story of Read and Camille.

The author has a sweet cadence to her style of writing which was compelling. Her words and the way she wrote them lulled me like a lullaby and I was a baby. Poignant. Bittersweet. Several twists that I did not see coming. Sometimes, it is fair to say that love truly does come in the most unusual ways.

Can I just say the airplanes in this story were a nice touch? There were a few parts that had me wondering why and how certain things happened. However, I pushed those feelings to the side because the bottom line was I wouldn't have had this amazing love story between these two amazing REAL characters.

I will definitely be binging on this author again in the future.

Flame level: 1
POV: Dual (Ava and Ash)
My thoughts: I kind of rolled my eyes when I first grabbed this book. Another book with a famous rockstar (country singer) who hides his identity. READ IT. However, I decided to push through a few chapters and then before I knew it, I was totally hooked. Ash was more that just a famous guy trying to hid his identity. And, it worked really well that Ava/Avery had things she was hiding too. That made the story have a bit more depth than I expected. Ava's past is tragic and I felt that I understood her reactions and reasons. She explains why she (and so many women in similar situations) stay in those situations. It's really well written.
Themes/Tropes: rockstar, abuse victim, hidden identity
If you liked: A less steamy version of A Stone in the Sea by AL Jackson, Emphatic by Kaylee Ryan (a fav of mine!) or other rockstar romance books!
