Kelly Asbury (1960–2020)

A twenty-year veteran of the animation industry, Asbury has worked as a director, storyboard artist, art director and designer for some of Hollywood's most popular animated films. In 2002, Asbury made his directorial debut with the Academy Award nominated animated feature, Spirit -- Stallion of the Cimarron. Asbury is a noted author and illustrator of several children's books. A native of Beaumont, Texas, and graduate of the California Institute of the Arts, Asbury resides in Pasadena, California, with his wife, Loretta Weeks. Kelly and Loretta share their home with two cats, two dogs and seventeen vintage dummies Graphic artist Amy Inouye has designed more than a dozen books and is the "mom" to Chicken Boy, a twenty-two-foot fiberglass man/boy with a chicken's head. Once restaurant signage, the statue now functions as the official spokesbird for Amy's causes.
