For a brand that is so quintissentially French, this book's focus is a bit odd. Obviously the success of the Christian Dior brand was intrinsically tied to their early mastery of branding ventures (for better or worse), but the claim that Dior was made in a large part by support from American consumers seems a bit overblown. Sure, many leading fashion figures adopted the New Look, he had successful partnerships with American retailers, and support by the American fashion press was influential in growing hte brand, but the book's collection of images (which are random at best) doesn't seem to convince readers of more that the idea that yes Dior had support in America.… (més)
