R. Leroy Bannerman

This biography of writer Norman Corwin is excellent. I have only had a handful of books that I have read that provided an experience that actually made you feel like you were there - and this is one of them. The book discusses Corwin's early years and his work during the golden age of radio. The descriptions of the broadcasts including his classic Bill of Rights show and On a Note of Triumph that was broadcast on VE Day, made you feel like you were there. Corwin's writing process is discussed as well as the early days of CBS radio. The changes that happened during the Communist witch hunts of the 1950's is also discussed. Corwin had to be the best writer for radio ever and more people should be exposed to his works. There is a complete list of all of Corwin's works in the back as well as numerous references and an extensive bibliography. I only wish the book would be updated as it was published in the late 1980's and Mr. Corwin left us in 2011 at age 101 and I would have liked to know what he did with the last part of his life.… (més)
