K.B. Barrett

So, when I heard that this book would be perfect for the Halloween season, I jumped to read a copy. Plus, I have read several other books by K.B. and really enjoyed those books. Sadly, this book did not give me all of the warm and fuzzy feelings that I normally get. What I was expecting with for this book to read more as a horror romance. It was more paranormal romance. Which I love paranormal romances but was in the mood for a horror romance.

Additionally, I found myself really struggling in the beginning to connect to either Mercy or Garrett. So I was not really feeling the attraction between them. The story moved at a slower pace and did not seem to really pick up until about more than sixty percent of the story. Until than the romance between Mercy and Garrett was a slow burn one.

However, the latter part of the story is where my interest did peak. I become more focused on the story and with Mercy and Garrett. The steam level rose quite considerably. The story all came together.… (més)

This is the third book I have read by this author. I enjoyed it. Although, I have to admit that this one took me longer to get into the story in the beginning. It was a slower burn romance for me. It was not until about a third of the way into the story that I really felt the chemistry between Dominic and Alice. Part of this also had to do with the fact that the chapters were short and thus the story seemed a bit rushed as well.

However, this is a different story when I hit the halfway point of the story. The chemistry that Dominic and Alice shared was very steamy. Also, the storyline picked up as well and grew stronger. It for sure made up for the slower beginning.… (més)

This book is a really good start to this new series from author, K. B. Barrett. I am a sucker for cute kids in stories. Ben is no exception. When he did make an appearance, he brought some humor to the story. While kids are entertaining, the real heat came from Branson and Emma.

Yes, the chemistry was there but that first moment when they were together, and Branson brought Emma some sweet release! That was one hot scene. From there the rest of the intimate scenes were very steamy. While, this book is a romance, it also has some intrigue to it as well. To quote Branson..."A man takes care of what's his". I look forward to reading the next book in this series.… (més)
