Amber is investigating the robbery of a family friend's gas station business. She goes undercover working at the station to nab the robber, but also tells one of the employees she's undercover. Not something a cop should do. Boring story that kind of dragged on.

The premise of the book immediately piqued my interest, but it fell short of my expectations. It was a slow burn, there was no twist, and what was going to happen was pretty obvious. It was not the "gripping psychological thriller" that was advertised. It was simply not my cup of tea.

In this psychological thriller, Cole Baxter created a high school that was amazingly accurate. Excellent writing as always, and I loved the complexities of their characters. Cole Baxter always impresses me.

I read this this book through the KindleUnlmited program, and I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Amber receives threats in an email, which she doesn't take to heart as she often receives threatening emails and letters. But over time, the same person is sending threats and demeaning comments about Amber's life so she takes it upon herself to investigate who is responsible. This is a slow-burn with a lot of confrontations since Amber struggles to trust those around her.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
