Wow, I don’t know what to say. Dianna T. Benson is a great new author to me. This was my first book I read by her but I will be reading many others. This book started with a bang and just kept going. Intense action and suspense that will keep you at the edge of your seat. It also includes romance, heartbreak and healing that is only possible by faith in God . I LOVED this novel. I am looking forward to Luke and Abigail’s stories in the second and third books of The Quigley Triplets Series. I give Final Trimester 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone that likes Christian, Suspense, and Romance Fiction.

I want to give a high-five to the author Dianna T. Benson and publisher Ellechor Publishing House for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. The Book Club Network Inc. provided me with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for their, the authors and publishers generosity.

Chilling, nightmarish crimes chronicled with redemptive themes...

Imagine a sky full of dark, ominous, thunderclouds with howling winds and driving rain lashing down. Then, as you look out, just for a minute, in one portion of the sky, you see blue for about 5 minutes. Then the dark, threatening sky returns, but that 5 minute reprieve has reminded you that there is hope for the return of good weather. Maybe a little like the hurricane depicted in Final Trimester, grave danger looms, then you get a glimpse of relief, just as the progression of terror and hope and love alternate in this mind-numbing narrative. Though a chilling account of a deranged serial killer who targets pregnant women, underneath the terror is the underlying theme that God is present and waiting to reach out to everyone, no matter who they are, or what bad things they may have done. This theme is not flaunted nor heavy. It just breaks forth, like the five minute blue sky respite in a bad storm, and lets you know that there is hope beyond the horrible circumstances that life may throw at you.

At times I wondered about Jodi's emotional fitness for her job, why she couldn't see that she was no longer able to be objective and unemotional in her job as an EMT. Poor Quigley. He seemed between a rock and a hard place. Trying to do his job, keep Jodi out of his, yet trying to decide if she had a place in his heart. And the ending... Whew!! Couldn't have seen that coming if I had X-Ray vision! Wonderfully shocking!!

Fortunately, Final Trimester is the first in the Quigley Triplets Trilogy. I will be first in line for the next book with fear and trembling. I received this book from bookfun.org in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Title: Final Trimester (The Quigley Triplets Series #1)
Author: Dianna T. Benson
Pages: 434
Year: 2014
Publisher: Ellechor Publishing House
Dianna T. Benson has a knack for writing great suspense thrillers and has done so again with Final Trimester. The story is set in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in the present day. The main characters are Jodi Duncan and Nate Quigley and of course the killer.
Nate Quigley is a detective with the Myrtle Beach Police Department. His wife and son died two years ago in a plane crash. He feels guilt over the state of his relationships with both at the time of their death, but he doesn’t know what to do to get better. He blamed God at the time of the accident and has been far from Him since. He responds to a murder scene and one of the paramedics who respond to the scene, Jodi Duncan, keeps at him with questions about the manner of death of the victim.
Jodi Duncan has been a paramedic for 14 years and loves her job. She also volunteers as a host for foster children when needed. She longs to be a mother to her own child. She responds to the scene of a victim, but can’t let go the manner of death. She keeps questioning why and how this happened and keeps after the detective, Nate Quigley, to investigate. They begin conversing more frequently, but both know they are in no position to begin a relationship. Jodi has kept her distance from men and God for a long time and filled her life with work to ease her pain of the past. Soon other victims appear and the investigation expands. Jodi keeps pushing for answers and catches the eye of the perpetrator.
This plot will keep you riveted to the pages until the very end. There is great suspense, tension and anxiety to keep the action-minded reader glued to their seat. Both Nate and Jodi have kept God at arm’s length for some time and begin to realize how much they need God to fill the empty place in their hearts that can’t be filled with work, other people, children or anything else. The characters were well-developed and I could relate to them right away. I can’t wait for the next book! Don’t miss this one!
My rating is 5 stars.
