With the first excerpt I read for Shayla Black's novel, Wicked Ties, I was hooked. Although not typically into BDSM plots, the excerpts Shayla Black has posted on her website and blog stirred an interest in me that was undeniable. I was therefore understandably excited at the opportunity to review Wicked Ties. The book did NOT disappoint - in any way.
As I mentioned, this book has a heavy BDSM theme, although it never seems `in your face' hard core BDSM like some other novels. Make no mistake, Jack Cole is as dominant as Morgan O'Malley is submissive, but the author's approach to these scenes makes BDSM palatable to most readers. While the love scenes are explicit and plentiful, the scenes never include acts of degradation. Indeed, although Jack is confused concerning his conflicting feels over Morgan, we never doubt that every thing he asks of her is geared towards making her happy and fulfilled. Even though he had intended to use her for revenge, Jack can not help his desire to help Morgan with her struggle to reconcile the desires she has viewed as depraved.
I said before the love scenes are plentiful, and it is no exaggeration. If you are looking for a steamy read with a great plot, this is a must read! Shayla Black proves herself as one of those authors who adeptly sneaks a very complete plot in the middle of her love scenes. The stalker plot provides plenty of suspense and of course, a nice twist as to the identity of the stalker.
Casting Jack in the role of bodyguard with a madman terrorizing Morgan is the perfect way to showcase his ultimate concern for her well-being and safety while simultaneously leading her into his world of BDSM.… (més)

Shayla Black has done it again! Made me love her characters and her stories!
I can’t wait to read more about the Reed Family and see what happens next. I loved Keeley and Maxon and they are evenly matched for each other.
Their story had me laughing, cussing at what fools the two Reed brothers were, and tearing up as I read Keely and Maxon falling in love.

I wanted to like it. Delaney, journalist doing her best to rid her town of a corrupt official, Tyler, a hot man who's the father of her child and some *kinda* creepy but mostly hot voyeuristic sex between the female lead, the male lead and her paralyzed husband.
Then Tyler sneaks into bed with her and sexually assaults her in her sleep after Delaney has explicitly said she doesn't want a physical relationship with him.
An orgasm doesn't excuse sexual assault.
So, I closed the book and if I could have thrown it across the room I would have, but I don't want to buy a new ipad.… (més)

Forever Wicked is the first book in the 1001 Dark Nights. I have been wanting to work through these a bit more here. Forever Wicked is a story that I really had fun with. I love marriage in trouble setups and this one was very interesting. I enjoyed how the author had this hero pining after the heroine. I didn't really understand her motivations on why she was always pulling away. The hero has to really pull some alpha moves to get her to give them a second chance. We see a man that is determined to fight for his marriage and he does it so creatively. The interactions between her family and the hero was perfection. The romance was a great erotic romance theme. There are deep layers within these more sensual scenes where we see this couple learn to reconnect.
Overall I had a good time with this one and enjoyed this Shayla Black and definitely want to explore this series more.… (més)
