The book is a nice little resource for persons interested in learn of the establishment of Drake University. I was drawn to the book because of an included sketch on A. I. Hobbs.
Dr. Alva I. Hobbs was Dean of the College of the Bible, serving from 1890 to the time of his death in 1894. Hobbs had served as pastor of First Christian Church in Bloomington, Illinois (my church) many years prior to coming to Drake.
In addition to learning of the beginning of Drake, the reader will enjoy learning about the development of higher education institutions by people associated with the Disciples of Christ.
The book includes many sketches such as the one on Hobbs. It is an easy, fun read.… (més)
