Biografia breu
Chris Bradford is an author, professional musician and black belt martial artist, best known for his children's fictional series, Young Samurai.

The first Young Samurai book, The Way of the Warrior, was published by Puffin Books in 2008. Disney bought the rights in the same year and are due to publish early 2009.

Chris has also written a number of books on the music business, including the critically acclaimed Heart & Soul: Revealing the Craft of Songwriting (Sanctuary, 2005), Crash Course Songwriting (Omnibus, 2007) and the three-part illustrated series of music business books for teenagers, Record Deals OutLoud, Music Publishing OutLoud and Artist Management OutLoud (Music Sales, 2006).

Before becoming a full-time author, Chris was a professional songwriter, who worked with many successful musicians including Dave Calhoqoun (Ian Brown 'F.E.A.R.'); Ivor Novello winner Iain Archer (Snow Patrol); and the legendary Graham Gouldman (10cc). As an artist himself, Chris performed with James Blunt, at the Notting Hill Carnival and for HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

As a martial artist, Chris joined a Judo club at the age of 8 years and has over 20 years experience in martial arts in various styles including Shotokan Karate, Muay Thai, Aikido and Taijutsu in which he is a black belt. Chris now trains in Iaido and Wado Ryu Karate.

The final book in the series, with jack back in England, searching for his sister Jess, is quite event-filled and fast-paced. A bit too event-filled, perhaps. For a time it seems every person they meet in England is trying to rob them or kill them. Add some assassin ninjas, who have also come from Japan, and Jess' mysterious disappearance, and you have all the ingredients.

Some reviewers complain that Jack's martial arts training as a samurai and as a ninja seem to be for nothing. To a certain extent, they have a point. He seems to be defeated and captured an awful lot. However, the story held my attention and kept me entertained. The mystery of Jess' whereabouts was always interesting.

All in all, a good finish to this epic story.

Jack, separated from his firends after the events of the previous book, has to travel the last stretch of his journey to Nagasaki, where he hopes to find a European ship that can take him back to England. Of course, the persecution against foreigners in general and against him in particular continues, and his former school mate and rival, Kazuki, is in charge of the hunt.

At this point in the series, everyone knows what to expect. Adventures, dangers and friendship, without too much depth but entertaining enough. I think I have mentioned in my reviews of previous books in the series that, after Jack left the samurai school, the series has gone on a bit too long, but here we finally get some resolution. The fate of the different characters is decided, and I can't say more to avoid spoilers. There is one book more in the series, but the story of Jack in Japan concludes here.… (més)
