An interesting book, but ... the handful of black and white photographs in the center of the book didn't help much. It would've been a better, more easily appreciated book if there had been diagrams and maps interspersed through the text. Just too hard to remember all the geography, even with the help of the single map at the beginning.
Substance: An interesting book of interviews. It was published in 1988, so some of the comments are a bit dated, but the stories behind some of our current technology are fascinating. Also interesting - each of the inventors had a different idea of what's the best environment and training for inventors, and a different outlook on their own activities (although there were "clusters" of responses, there was no single consensus).
Style: Recommended bedside reading: "one chapter before lights out" sort of thing.… (més)
