Mary Hawkins Buch

Buch served overseas from 1943 to 1945 in the RCAF Women's Division. Most of her service was on bomber bases in Lincolnshire where she mainly worked preparing maps for the navigators guiding bombers to Germany. As the letters were written during the war, they had to be written with the censor in mind so details of her work are vague. However the details of her social life and the people she met on her travels around England are many.

If you wish to read about the social life and conditions of living in England during this period, this volume has much to ponder. There are also many details of life for a woman serving in the armed forces. She also has much to say about the difference in attitudes toward the treatment of by English women as opposed to Canadian women.
