This is a wonderful biography of a woman who combined science and art to make a name for herself. Her discoveries helped prove they were mountains under the water, and that continental drift was a real thing. This book is lovingly done and well illustrated. For a children’s picture book it’s done in the first person which is highly unusual but very effective. This is a great biography for any library collection.

This book is based on a true story of a humpback whale caught in fishing line. It is done in a perfect picture book format with an easy read, and a cadence that is pleasant. It tells a story that is so thrilling and harrowing and has a happy ending. The illustrations are lovely and the info in the back is spot on. This is a great resource for anybody who wants to know more about whales.

I love hummingbirds. We have one that loves to visit our backyard.

Their size and their wings never cease to amaze me. And to think about the migration journey they go on!!

Great non-fiction text all about the tiny but mighty bird!

“Zip the backpack. Lock the door. Turn out all the lights.”

A picture book inspired by Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road”, an all-time favorite of mine! In this book, Jack is a rabbit, maybe a jackrabbit? He travels across the USA and sees the country and it's people.
I liked the read, and can see it being used to expose younger readers to the Kerouac legend. And the artwork is pretty cool, with a retro old timey vibe to it! I'm definitely adding this to my Kerouac collection!
