Frank W. Butterfield

Mr. Butterfield is a new author to me but not for long. This story was a fun read with a good look at life and politics in 1953 San Francisco. I totally enjoyed Nick and Carter as a couple. Marnie was excellent as Nick's long suffering secretary. While the story was light as a mystery, it kept me interested with the color, wit and language of the era.

I love this series! This fun story was even better than The Unexpected Heiress. All of the sex in this book is off page which leaves plenty of room for imagination. I laugh at all of the hot water heater puns and numerous others. While light on the actual mystery, the draw of this series is that it is heavy on life and laughs at itself. Thank you Frank!

Each book just grows off of the last one. The "pile of rocks" was a big surprise to me. I almost like old man Williams and Mrs. Wilson now that the sticks are coming out of their asses. Thank you Mr. Butterfield!

As always, my love of this incredible series just grows! This was one of my favorites in Mr. Butterfield's collection. These books read like an email from an old friend in the way that they are narrated by Nick. I'm glad that both Alexandra and Evelyn has their stories told with such care and precision. When read in order, this series is a must read.
