I was born and raised in Northeast Los Angeles. My most recent novel, More Than This (Touchstone, August 2008), was a Target stores Breakout Book and an American Association of Publishers national book club selection at Borders Books with Las Comadres. I'm also the author of Life Over Easy and Underneath It All, both published by Kensington Books in 2007.

Carolina Hoyos, Frankie Corzo, and Ana Osorio did a great job of narrating this novel. Having the three narrators made it easy to differentiate which character was speaking.

I was so annoyed with Maritza and her constant "because I'm the bride" comments, can you say bridezilla? Then as the story continued and we learned more about each of the sisters I started to like her a little bit more with each story. I liked that story had alternating POVs and that each chapter focused on a different sister. I loved the ending with Dulcina and the nursing home, that was awesome and I love that she was doing it for her sister.… (més)

Sassy and sweet little novella. Something of a Cinderella story - the besieged stylist whose manager won't give her any good clients, but then she hits the jackpot with Mr. Big, er, Mr. Tate.

It's a quick, fun little romantic fantasy, and I really liked the author's voice, not to mention the pampering she gets from Mr. Tate. Looking forward to reading more of this author's work.

It is a real shame that Margo Candela refuses to write romance, because it is obvious that is where her talent lies. The parts dealing with relationships are very good, and the rest is just okay. It's just another novel about a businesswoman trying to get ahead.

Brenda is my kind of gal... someone who knows that she doesn't want to be held down by a full-time, everyday job and does what she pleases. The fact that she is a full-time TEMP is besides the point.

Being given access to Brenda's diary sort of gives you that naughty feeling... always looking over your shoulder to make sure no one is watching. The format was great because it was fast to read and got right to the point. While I enjoyed this, I do sort of wish that there was a little more meat behind the story. A narrator who would give you a little more background on situations and people because I found myself questioning a few things and at times, wishing there was more.

I did, however, really enjoy the characters. Brenda, as I said, is wonderful. Her boyfriend, Jared, deserves a good ole shot of grown-up medicine but he was still a romantic guy and I liked that. As for Maya... all I have to say is, if my best friend showed up, unannounced, and stayed for months... she'd be, ack, I couldn't turn her away so who am I to judge.

Overall, this was a fun book. A great look into how life could be if you opted to live it on the 'wild' side and temp-it-up.
