In April 1941 Germans invade in Greece, and despite previous assurances, allowed Bulgarian troops and guerrillas to enter into Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Progressively, Bulgarians started terrorizing and exercising violence against Greek population who opposed them. While this was happening, a Greek officer Nikos Devetzis, together with his friend, Vasilis Anthimos decided to return in their village which was under the oppression by a Bulgarian guerrilla group, where led them Stepan Rajko.
