Vaguely interesting, I suppose. Kid wants to be a superhero. Is given radioactive lolipop. Gets superpowers. Gets trained, etc. (I saw a thread somewhere just the other day about women in movies, seems a common trope to have a woman, brilliant, top-notch, able to do stuff herself, finding a man, training him, finding that he's better than her, etc. etc., and then she fades into the background, dies and/or is forgotten - man goes on to do massively great things). As is normal in a story like this, directly or indirectly causes death of someone close to them (Spiderman). And/or witnesses their death (Batman).
Vaguely offensive storyline/superpower (wait, sorry, strike the vaguely). The good guy, and remember, this is the good guy, goes around sexually assaulting women. Very occasionally there is, maybe, a split second when consent might have occurred, though none is asked for nor given. But that is rare. Most of the time he just attacks them. With his tongue. But, hey, they have mind blowing orgasms so it's okay, right? Bah.
Just a quick example. Man and woman in apartment. Woman is unsatisfied. Sexually. Man doesn't care. Leaves. Man in mask breaks in, sexually assaults woman. Who has orgasmic good time. So . . . um yay? Rape is okay as long as the woman is sexually satisfied?
By the way, all sex scenes go up to the part wherein licking would begin, jump cuts to two seconds later to orgasmic looking woman. And everyone keeps covered up. Except one woman in the beginning who wears somewhat revealing lingerie (I think, hard to see on the tiny screen - the only one that I could use to read this, apparently my computer isn't good enough for the book to appear on).
(Re: no consent, I note that I could not always get the text large enough to read, but the hard to read parts did not tend to be in the areas consent would have occurred if it occurred. Did not occur. Apparently, what every woman needs is a good non-consensual licking, eh?).… (més)
