Until The Birds Chirp is a personal memoir of growing up in Connecticut in the 1950-70s. The author recounts his boyhood, high school, and college years while weaving in the important events, music, and politics of the era.
I like reading books/memoirs about the sixties (Loose Change by Sara Davidson is a favorite), so I was pleased with Until The Birds Chirp. The title is a reference to the ending of Layla by Eric Clapton. And I grew up in the same area and time as the author. It was interesting to compare his views to my own; I often had a different perspective though aspects were also aligned.
Music was such an important part of the times, and I found it well-covered here with interesting discussions of different musicians. Until The Birds Chirp is a nostalgic journey to my youth that I enjoyed very much.
