I liked this book. I laughed hilariously and was kept guessing about what would happen next.

Not my usual type of book, but I thorougly enjoyed this one enough that I will read other Cavins books when they come along.

A really funny and entertaining book. It was hard to stop reading once started. The short stories are all related and we meet same characters in different stories from different angles and views.

I'm delighted. Delighted! If I seem surprised, it's because, had I not been an advance reader, I would've decided not to read or buy Follow The Money, due to the over-bearing, pre-emptive self-hype that is Mr. Cavins' informal introductory letter. (I mean, c'mon. The first line is: "You just won my super funny book, "Follow The Money," for FREE.") As it stands, I soldiered on through the stultifying and slightly vulgar monologue, and arrived at a piece of work that grabbed me immediately. In short, don't let the e-mail intro deter you, if you aced a copy of this massively cool book.

Mr. Cavins plays up the humorous aspect of the book, leading one to believe it's merely a series of benign Chicken Soup-ish vignettes. He sells himself short.with all that talk. Though it is, indeed, farcically funny in parts, Follow The Money is everso much more: It has a edge that'll cut if you look away for too long. As a long-term fan of clever noir, I'm usually able to see around most literary corners – happily, I was satisfyingly WRONG almost 100% of the time when guessing what would happen next in this clever, modern fable. I felt like I was in Disneyworld's Haunted Mansion; just when I thought I was about to crash into a wall, the car did a dizzying 90-degree, throwing me into the next bizarre room. In fact, the story's vibe felt a *lot* like Tarantino's Four Rooms: starring me, the reader, in Tim Roth's role as a hapless, slightly bemused and confused, bellhop.

In synopsis, Mr. Cavins (who, incidentally, has a pretty cool, invitingly random website at www.rosscavins.com) presents as an exceptionally clever dude who'd be just as intellectually comfortable writing an exegesis on Plato as he is penning eccentric, peculiar noir. Lucky for us, Ross probably prefers a dirty martini over a nice amber port, any day. Give it a read. My only regret? That The Screaming Tower of Babylon is not an actual ride.

This book had me laughing out loud! I usually don't read short stories, but they're all connected by "the money" so it worked out well. Highly recommend for a laugh (or two!).
