I didn't finish this book (borrowed from the library), but I read pretty much everything I had wanted to. I really wanted to hear his version of his life when he was younger. It was an interesting read, although I take what he says with a grain of salt.

Format: Paperback
Having watched the tv show and gleaned little bits of info about Chapman's time in jail, familiarity with drugs etc, I wanted to find out more about his life. This book takes you from childhood to teenage tearaway, hanging out with a gang and getting jailed for a murder he didnt commit, on to a career selling vacuum cleaners and speaking at motivational seminars. Then falling to rock bottom after his mother's death when a girlfriend got him heavily into drugs, till he got together with Beth and fought his way back in the bail business. We read of him pursuing rapist Luster into Mexico, but getting jailed himself; his wedding and tv career. In between all this are his children and relationships, problems with the government and rival bondsmen making it difficult for him to work due to his murder conviction...Interesting read… (més)

Read this book in 2 days because I just couldn't put it down! I've been a long time fan of The Chapman's and it was nice to get a more personal in depth look of their lives/events from Dog. For me, this books only further proves that no matter who you are or how well you are known, doesn't mean that your struggles are any less real than someone else's. We are all the same and everyone puts on their pants one leg at a time, just like the next person. If there is one thing I can personally take away from this memoir, it's that a little heart and forgiveness can go a long way. At the end of day it is all about how you choose to handle the situation you are in. I would highly recommend this book if you are in the mood for a gripping, page turning, truthful but at times humorous read!… (més)
