Drop the Act, It's Exhausting! by Beth Thomas Cohen is a little much for me. While reading the book I cringed at some of the language and felt embarrassed for her husband by some of her stories/observations. I am not sure I would place this book in the self-help section. I did find a few of her observations about motherhood relevant but the insights were lost in the negativity and demeaning verbiage about women in general. Not my cup of tea.

I can not give this book even one star. The author, Beth Thomas Cohen, is not afraid to push her beliefs onto other people at the expense other people's feelings. It seems she is very full of herself and can't comprehend why others do not think like she does. This is more of an instance where an author is promoting herself and not really trying to help others. I think she needs to read her book and look at her behavior.

I am not sure what I thought I was getting, but this wasn't it. While I agree that you should be honest about your feelings I do not think it should be at the expense of anothers feelings. The author seemed to not care if what she said hurt someone else, it was all about telling it like it is and freeing herself. I do not consider this to be a good "self-help" type book because it is teaching bad behavior in some ways. The author is quite hilarious and there are times she does make good points but it seemed for me that the bad outweighed the good in the end. You can drop the act, but you can also respect yourself and others in the process. This book didn't hit that point for me. The language was a bit much at times also.
I received this book from Library Thing Early Reviewers.

I received this book from LibraryThing Early Reviewer and in all honesty I would not recommend this book. Instead of being an inspiration it depressed me. This certainly isn't like my life and I had a hard time relating to anything she wrote about. Maybe writing the book was therapy for her, I just don't know. 2 stars because she did write a book.
