Sea Kings was a very interesting and fun read as an adventure story set in Minoan times, Life 4000 years ago, It blows one's mind. Now if the writer had been an archaeologist instead of a geologist, I might have been more assured of historical veracity of the tale, though I guess so much is not known about the Minoan era that artistic license is the rule. In his epilogue though he goes into quite a bit of detail about where he has altered or filled in the historical details. One of the things I took away from this book are the roots of bible stories in Babylonian and other ancient middle eastern myths--everything is connected.
Actually I've read this book twice. Had read it a couple of decades ago, but with a heat wave on and nothing new to read I decided to open it again as I only remembered what fun it was to read about that long ago time. Well, though I found the writing style weak and immature at times, with clumsy plot shifts; overall I give it a thumbs up again. It's kind of like science fiction but in the past.… (més)
