This nonfiction informational text discusses both volcanoes and earthquakes. It gives information on how they are formed, the importance of tectonic plates, and even how to stay safe during or after the hazard. Although this text is only 16 pages, it is full of images, highlights, small facts, and diagrams. There are 5 chapters included and with the advanced vocabulary it is an interest and challenge for 4th graders. I personally led a small group for 3 days with this text and it was a perfect book to not only meet the science standards, but our writing standards as well. This book teaches science and all about natural disasters such as earthquakes and Tsunamis. It teaches about how these disasters come about, the destruction they can cause, and where and why they form. The book has real life photos from many devasting and record breaking earthquakes and tsunamis. This book is very informative in teaching science and earth's major natural disasters.
