I read this book via an Amazon KINDLE Unlimited [KU] download.

While I'm a rather voracious reviewer of nonfiction Christian books and that I also have a passion for reading/reviewing books belonging to the genre of True Crime books. From time to time I have to satisfy my inner-child's reading needs as a form of escapism from these books; which is why I'm glad I ran across this book.

I, or should I say, my inner-child enjoyed reading the sometimes non-sensical verses that reminded my adult-self of what read by Edward Lear as a child. The whimsical drawings of the various animals in the book enhanced the reading enjoyment of it for my inner-child. And the explanations for each story at the end of the book enhanced reading the book as an adult.

While the humor for each of the stories had aided my inner-child's reading the book, as an adult, I had enjoyed the shrew humor that each story contained.

For having written an enchanting book for readers of all ages, I and my inner-child have given the author 5 STARS for his endeavor here, and 5 STARS to the book's illustrator, Llano Blue, for his imaginative illustrations.

This small poetry book's theme is death, specifically death as it pertains to members of the poet's family--or his own thoughts. Its only redeeming quality is its brevity. The poem's lack lyrical beauty and seem too blunt. The author's agnosticism means he lacks the hope of a Christian facing death. I won the book in a GoodReads giveaway with hopes, although not a requirement, a review would be written.

A cute book of rhymes in verse with colorful characters (that can be colored!) worthy of Seuss.

This was a GoodReads First Reads book, sent by the author. I came home to it after my trip, and read it to my daughter that peered curiously at the various creatures mentioned. The explanations at the end held my attention better than my daughter's, but for a first reading, I didn't want to miss anything. I'm glad I didn't, too! Some of the stories are as creative as the creatures themselves!

The verses vary in length and form, but each holds a rhyme. It's hard to pick a favorite, but if pressed, I'd have to go with the Umpdyump. Each rhyme has it's own voice, so the book does not get tedious. And as mentioned before, this would sit nicely next to Dr. Seuss. A great book for the young and those that simply think young!… (més)
