This was a suspenseful novel about people who keep turning up dead, the only signs of trauma are their eyes cut out and replaced with glass eyes.
Garrick and Olivia Lockwood are in need of a change, and can't afford much, so they purchase a home on the edge of the woods where the bodies were found. Sadly, this house is too close to the danger, and Olivia changes everything one night when she falls in the woods.
Insp. Wildeve's husband, Adam Stanton, is a victim of the killer, and Wild is desperate for answers. As she investigates the case against the wishes of her superiors, she stumbles onto some sinister secrets. The ending may surprise you.
I would have rated it higher, but the storyline was a bit confusing for me.

Book 2 of the Collector series. Det. Sgt. Etta Fitzroy is still chasing Brian Howley who is The Bone Collector. He is fascinated with people who have body deformities. After kidnapping Clara and Jakey in book 1, Jakey has been rescued, but Howley escaped. Now Etta is chasing him again, knowing he must be near. Another person is captured, and a young boy, Saul, is lured in by Mr. Silver, the alias the collector is using.
Saul is escaping a bad home situation, and is captivated by Mr. Silver's paternal care for him. Yet, he is hesitant of forming a bond with this man. He agrees to help bring Jakey to Mr. Silver, but what do they have planned.
Creepy story!

As much as I love thrillers, I often have difficulty getting into them. But that wasn't a problem with this one! Cummins had me hooked from the very first page. The fast-paced, short chapters also made it easy to keep turning pages, and I lost count of how many times I told myself "just one more" rather than flicking off the light and going to bed as I'd planned.

Overall, the characters were interesting, the plot moved along quickly, and the mystery kept me guessing until the last third of the book. I'll definitely look for more books by Fiona Cummins.… (més)

A dark, dangerous race against time to stop a killing spree before the body count rises.

This book certainly hits the floor running, the prologue jumps straight into blood and chaos. Several dead bodies and a mother with her two children being held at gunpoint. Not only that but she is faced with a choice, she must decide which of her children is going to be killed.

This book is as dark and twisty as you’ve come to expect from one of her novels, and with this book, ‘All of us are Broken‘ this is her best work to date!

Set over the span of a day, a hell of a lot can happen in a day. As the Hardwicke family, mum Christine, daughter Galen and younger son Tom set out for a special getaway to Chanonry Point in Scotland to see the wild dolphins, which has always been a dream of Galens, they have no idea how their trip is going to end.

It also turns out Galen is a fan of a tv show, ‘The Karma Hotel’ so as a surprise Christine had booked a night in the hotel the series was set in, The Lodge on the Loch. The Lodge is renowned for its remoteness so all Christine wants after the long drive is a glass of wine and a soak in a bath. But fate has other ideas for her.

The family are completely unaware of what has been happening whilst they’ve been travelling. The police are all on hight alert, on the lookout for a couple, Fox and Missy, who are also travelling to Scotland, leaving a trail of dead bodies along the way..

Fox and Missy also find themselves at the same hotel and it’s here that the two very different worlds collide.

This is a very fast paced book that will give you some really scary antagonists to get your teeth into whilst rooting for the Hardwicke family and the slightly damaged Detective Saul Anguish.

If you are new to Fiona Cummins, or even if you’ve read her previous books you are in for a real treat with this book. As I said earlier, this is some of her finest work right here.

All of us are Broken by Fiona Cummins will be published in the UK on the 20 July 2023 and is available to be preordered now from your local bookshop, library or from the link below.
