These books are so action packed they actually kind of make my head explode. I liked this better than the last crossover one. It featured very little Monster squad with John's point of view. It's a personal thing, I hate first person point of views. They just irritate me. I found it easier to enjoy the Monster squad's characters more than the last one without the first person point of view interfering. Still, I don't love their gang, beyond Lynn. I seriously wish we'd see more Jean. Although Cala's pretty awesome. I enjoy the snippets of the future at the end, Quinn's pretty cool and Benny's interesting. Although this one also featured Al who I hate. She's a bad version of Jean. I'm annoyed that she becomes a FBI agent. Plus what's the deal with naming all the kids the same thing? Confusing as hell. I enjoyed the book signing with the variation on the BK's and grammar nazi's.… (més)

I'm a fan of the Nick McCarty novels - I only read this because I tried to start [book:Red Horizon: Harding and McCarty Crossover Event, #2|30973932] and found myself confused about the Starlight op. This is an essential bridging novel for the Nick McCarty series.

I don't love John Harding and I hate his family. Lora and Al annoyed me. Al is a bad version of Jean. John is a rougher version of Nick McCarty. The Monster Gang is surprisingly more sadistic than Nick but they lack something. I'm not sure what but I didn't love any of them. Lynn was alright, she was the closest to likeable. I would've liked to see the interaction between her and Jean. I really hate first person point of view stories - which means I was probably never going to enjoy John Harding. But that's on me. The best parts were the appearances by Nick and the gang, especially because usually that meant it reverted back to third person. The Book Killer parts are kind of getting repetitive. I was hopeful that this crossover event would eventually end but I'm thinking I will probably have to get used to it. It's a shame because I really like the original Nick McCarty novels.… (més)

This series has been slowly working into a real hate on Islam. It's definitely not for the politically correct. The first four haven't bothered me but this series is starting to lose plot and become more preachy. That being said, I ignored most of that and focused on the bits I do like. See I'm kind of invested in the characters now, so I'm screwed. I love Jean and Nick and John and CALA! I'm invested in what happens to them. I wish there was more Jean involvement but hopefully in future installments.… (més)

Holy crap this was amazing. I couldn't put it down. I thought Killer Moves was intense but it had nothing on this one. There were bodies dropping all over the place. Jean was so bloodthirsty. And Gus was really getting into the whole enterprise. Even Rachael has moved past her wishywashiness and has just accepted it all as is. I like how their whole operation has moved to right and wrong and I love how much Nick has gotten into it. The comic book alter egos is freaking hysterical. And New John. Like seriously New John? Paul is growing on me as well. They all are. All these characters are amazing. But Carol? Seriously how could you! Poor Dan.

I'm already downloading the next one. This kept me turning page after page and laughing hysterically. What more could I want?… (més)
