Opgezet als tegenantwoord op de pseudospiritualiteit van de “Celestijnse belofte”: accent op het natuurlijke, vanzelfsprekende en eenvoudige karakter van de benedictijnse spiritualiteit. Voorbeelden vooral uit abdijleven geput, maar telkens toegepast op leefwereld buiten de abdij, vooral de zakenwereld.

While this book obviously has a role as a guide for Catholics wanting to develop a Benedictine spirituality in their life, there is a tremendous amount here that would be useful for anyone looking for new ways to overcome the petty distractions in life, and to get more out of both work and play. The foundation of the book may be the lives of Benedictine monks, but what they've learned over the centuries can be useful to all of us.
The book does a great job of illustrating the principles with real life examples, and doesn't paper over the challenges involved.… (més)

Het was in 2011 dat ik een leergang volgde die mij ook bij het Benedictijnse klooster Sint Willibrordus in Doetinchem bracht. Ik verbleef daar drie dagen, zo lees ik terug in een map die ik bewaard heb. Wat wist ik daar nu allemaal nog van?
Niet veel.
Al bladerend vind ik de dagindeling van de monniken, het rooster van de leergang en wat aantekeningen van het gesprek met Wil Derkse. Confessio et Pulchritudo staat er bovenaan het papier, Belijdenis en Schoonheid, het motto van de abdij.
