Title: First Steps in Messianic Jewish Prayer
Author: Aaron Eby
Pages: 168
Year: 2014
Publisher: First Fruits of Zion
My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
I am not Jewish, so why read a book of this nature? People read books of various subjects for many reasons. For me, I read the book because I want to grow in understanding the Jewish people and prayer. I have done a couple of online courses with this ministry, First Fruits of Zion, and like their approach of reaching other Jewish people and those who want to know more about the Messiah, Yeshua.
I used the book like a devotional, reading small sections and then meditating on what I had read. I found a new understanding and depth to approaching God in prayer that defies description. My prayer life is no longer stale or just reciting prayers without being engaged. I came away with a big appreciation for the Messianic Jewish Ministry teaching me through this book, which offers a totally different approach to my time alone with God.
Perhaps some will be able to sit and read the book in one sitting and that’s fine. The point is to come away with our hearts changed, our approach to prayer vastly different and drawing near to God with our entire being. Please consider using this book whether its discussed between a couple of people, a small group or any avenue. All I can say is whoever reads the book and puts any of it into practice will notice a nearness to God that perhaps was missing or an ignited passion to be in His presence and hear His voice.

Title: Rabbi Teach Us to Pray (What the Jewishness of Jesus can Teach Christians About Prayer)
Author: Aaron Eby
Pages: 80
Year: 2017
Publisher: First Fruits of Zion
My rating 5 out of 5 stars.
First, let me say this isn’t a “how to” book; it struck me as being a “why to” book. The more I am learning about the Jewish culture and thought process, the more I am aware of how much deeper I have yet to grow in the Lord. Unlike western culture that tends to compartmentalize life, the Jewish life is interwoven with spiritual life in all aspects. It really is a wonderful way to live and think that is 180 degrees from what I have known to date.
In this short book, Aaron Eby shares eye-opening and heart-impacting truths about Jesus, Jewish life and prayer. It showed me how life-giving prayer can be instead of just repetition and lifeless. I was touched to learn what the Jewish women use for prayer and how they live to pray. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, we now can gain deeper insight into what The Lord’s Prayer can mean to us as it touches our lives.
I hope you take time to read the book as it doesn’t take but a short amount of time. Plus, I hope and pray your heart and life are touched, challenged and changed after you finish the book!
