- Elizabeth Morgan Jay was born in New York City and graduated from Barnard College. In 1933, she married Stephen Morgan Etnier, a painter, with whom she had two daughters. As Elizabeth Etnier, she wrote the critically acclaimed memoir On Gilbert Head (1937) about the summer home on an island near Popham Beach, Maine, which the couple found and renovated while living aboard a sailboat. After they divorced, Elizabeth remarried in 1948 to Harry B. Hollins. She published short stories and a novella. They worked together for world peace and in 1966, she edited Peace Is Possible: A Reader on World Order.
