Sobre l'autor

Timothy Ferriss is an American author and public speaker. In 2007, he published The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich, which was a New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller. Ferriss grew up in East Hampton, NY and graduated from St. Paul's School. mostra'n més He received a degree in Neuroscience and East Asian Studies from Princeton University. Before the release of the 4HWW, Ferriss was an unknown. He marketed the book heavily through bloggers with whom he created personal relationships. He has since been praised for this technique. He has also taken the position that technology such as email, instant messaging and internet-enabled PDAs complicate life rather than simplify it. His teachings fit under the umbrella of what he calls "Lifestyle Design," which he positions as an alternative to the "deferred-life" career path where one would work a 9 to 5 job until retirement in their 60s. The sections on body transformation and sleep were really good. The section on sex? Uh... fast forward. Not because I'm not a fan of sex, but as a Christian, I'm not going to be looking to the porn industry as "experts". That's just stupid.

Really enjoyed the book and recommend it even for people not looking to start their own businesses.
There is a lot of time saving advice, especially the Pareto Principle and Parkinson's Law. I'm curious how my life might change as a result of this read.

Contained some useful productivity tips, but the emphasis on running small businesses (most of which sounded not that interesting or useful to me) made a lot of it not very interesting or relevant to my life.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this book. I found it compulsively readable, engaging, and, at times, fascinating. I highlighted a ton of content, and scribbled in my notebook often while reading.

Some profiles were more interesting and applicable than others (my eyes glossed over much of the first third of the book, which dealt with everything from psychedelics to performance-enhancing pills, neither of which are things I want in my body, no matter how much these "top performers" extoll their virtues).

The best part of the book, by far, is its tremendously practical application - especially in the areas of business, productivity, and mindset. Much of the advice is down-to-earth and instantly applicable. But just like any other resource chock-full of a variety of information from a variety of sources, it works best when you can take what seems meaningful and relevant to you, and leave the rest.
