Shlomo Gazit is a retired Israeli Major-General who specialises in national security, various aspects of intelligence work, and Middle Eastern affairs. He was born in Turkey and made aliyah to Israel at the age of six. Major-General Shlomo Gazit completed 37 years of service in the Israeli Defence mostra'n més Forces in 1981. Following the 1967 June War (the Six Day War) he served as Coordinator of Israeli Government operations in the Occupied Territories (1967-74) and, following the Yom Kippur War, he headed the Israeli military intelligence. He is a graduate of Tel Aviv University, and was a fellow at the Harvard Center for International Affairs (1979-80), at the Woodrow Wilson Center and the US Institute of Peace (both in Washington DC) mostra'n menys
