A very intriguing story told by Hermione, the daughter of Helen of Troy. Not only does the story tell of her personal experiences but of the after math of the war and how it affected many of it's participants both the willing and unwilling. An amazing amount of events take place that had me glued to the end. I felt like I was truly witnessing the ceremonies, rituals etc. as though I was walking within the palace walls wearing a white Spartan gown and sandals on my feet. This author gives great detail in it's complexity and such a well rounded view. For those readers who enjoy Roman or Greek historicals this is a must read.… (més)

Even though I felt the story started out a little slow it was captivating from the beginning. Hermione had a strong presence throughout the book and showed true character in the face of everything she had to put up with. Throughout the whole story her plight is revealed but the author does not write her as someone to be pitied but more of someone who has the strength and courage to live through anything, she is someone to look up to. I was not too fond of Orestes but he did grow on me towards the end, he just seemed like a baby character and annoyed me in the beginning. I thought the author did a wonderful job about filling in the blanks from previous tales and spinning a wonderful plot.
