How does one review somebody else’s life? How can I really rate somebody’s most terrible experience in stars? I can’t. But what I can say is that Elizabeth Gilpin experienced something terrible over a long period of time. She wrote this book and she was able to honor herself and those she lost by telling this heartbreaking story. She is brave, resilient and brilliant. She shines a light on things we need to take notice of; depression and mental health, coming of age and asking good questions rather than making judgements when our kids are struggling. She has been able to put in writing her experience and has been able to take back some control that was stolen from her in the middle of the night and subsequently for years following that terrible night. Gilpin is a shining star and I am honored to have read her story. This is a must read memoir!!! Thank you Elizabeth Gilpin for sharing your story. I am a better parent and person because of it.… (més)
