I believe when this myth first came about, it was a time when Kings and Queens ruled countries. Having money and wealth was a sure staple of staying alive and surviving in a harsh country. Many kings were looked at as greedy and of always needing more more more. The fact that he learned having food and water over gold makes any man rich was a sign of some cultural values. The lesson this teaches is that money can’t buy you everything. You should learn to cherish what you have, such as having food on the table. It is better to have nothing at all than all the money in the world.

This is a great way to teach children that money does not make the world go round. Money cannot buy you happiness. Overall, it's a valuable moral lesson that all children should be taught.
