Pray Repeatedly and Often!

This is the story of Israel, a country that was destroyed two thousand years ago, but came together again as a nation in 1948. The author outlines many miracles that God orchestrated throughout the world for this to happen. Saying the odds were really stacked against them is an understatement. Yet God helped them succeed in building a striving democracy, but not without struggles, both then and now.

The author stresses the importance of prayer for the salvation and peace of Israel—for she remains the apple of God’s eye. He points out the vital key Israel plays in end-time prophecies.

Some examples of fulfilled prophecies include:

Isaiah 35:1 “The wilderness and the dry land will be glad; the desert will rejoice and blossom like a rose.” Today’s Israel is turning acres and acres of desert into thriving cropland.

Isaiah 66:8 “Who has ever seen anything as strange as this? Who ever heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment?” This happened in 1948 when Israel became a nation just that quickly.

This fascinating book covers the Israel of the past, present and future. It gave me lots of food for thought about things that the Bible predicts for our future, along with additional things to pray for. The author implores us to pray for Israel because prayer changes things.

Since there is a spiritual war going on all around us and Israel, our prayers are vitally important. I recommend this five-star book to everyone. It will be enjoyed whether or not you are aware of Israel's current and future importance.

From a Biblical viewpoint, the author shows how God uses our emotions to bring glory to Him. The Biblical references throughout this book provide support for what Dr. Goll states. This book includes prayers at the end of each chapter that I found meaningful. This book illustrates how emotions come from God and potentially help build relationships between believers. I appreciate how the book encourages growing in wisdom through both our emotions and the Holy Spirit.

So whether you consider yourself to be a touchy-feely person or one who prefers a less emotional approach, check out this book for yourself. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in o way influenced my review. All opinions are my own… (més)

I tend to shy away touchy-feely people. I tense up when someone wants to hug me and try to avoid it at all times. That was me several years ago. I have gotten better at hugs but I still hide my emotions very well. This book was very helpful in many ways and I liked learning about how God shows us how much He loves us. He doesn’t want us miserable and sad, but delights in our happiness.

Have you ever heard of the saying, “stinkin thinkin.” Well I will enlighten you on this term I quite often use. I have struggled with depression and anxiety for years. My mind tends to look at things as sad and hopeless at times. In this book I discovered that God really does love me and I need to grasp that truth. My days of feeling unwanted and unloved are fading as I allow His words to soak my soul with hope.

I enjoyed reading the author’s story about verbal abuse and his strained relationship with his earthly father. His openness helped me understand my own struggles and that I am God’s favorite. Yes we each are each His favorite and should rejoice in that knowledge. The author’s in-depth look at the Fruits of the Spirit are grounded in the Word and shows us how our emotions work closely with those gifts.

I really enjoyed the book and liked the prayer at the end of every chapter. I walked away feeling better and have a fresh understanding about allowing our feelings to show. We each have spiritual gifts that work together in harmony. Each gift cannot function alone without the others. I am reminded of a pastor illustrating this fact in a message once. He said think about a bicycle. It has many parts but what if a tire was missing? How would the bike work? Some of us have the gift of mercy, while others may have discernment, administrative, teaching or other gifts not listed here. God designed us to use our gifts to work together to be His hands and feet.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

The title of the book had me wondering what it had to do with prayer. I know how important prayer is and the way each individual prays is the way God designed our prayer life. I went into the book with an open mind and came out knowing that I don't agree with a lot of what is written in the book . To be fair everyone has their own belief system but I know if it doesn't line up with the word of God then it is not from God.

Praying together in a church is very dynamic. We come together to commit in agreement for something . We don't have to pray exactly as the person next to us. God wants us to pray from the heart and listen to His Holy Spirit. I don't think we need to scope out the atmosphere before deciding how to pray. If we are in a group at church, of course we will each pray differently and not everyone will agree.

I'm on the fence about the different types of intercessors the author described. If God puts on your heart to pray for finances one week and spiritual warfare the next, he will equip you too do so. People do have a heart at times for a specific needs, but I don't think we need to label which intercessor you are.

There is one statement I did agree with and wanted to jump for joy when I read it. We are not fighting against each other but, "we are fighting principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and spiritual hosts of wickedness." To me that is a powerful statement to remember. We are in this together and must join together as God has called us to pray for what he has put on our hearts. The author has many scriptures and personal examples of prayer that may be helpful for someone. I did find a few things I liked in the book but I can't say I agreed with everything he wrote.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.
