Monday, April 29, 7:30 PM Austin Grossman presents his novel You In conversation with author Lev Grossman In addition to being the author of the acclaimed novel Soon I Will Be Invincible, which reimagines the superhero genre, Austin Grossman is the creator of a number of popular video games (including System Shock, Tomb Raider: Legend, Deus Ex, and Epic Mickey). In his new novel You, Grossman bridges the two worlds with a portrait of the world of professional game makers and the story of how learning to play can save your life. The novel tells story of a game designer in the early 1990s who joins Black Arts Games, in hopes of creating the Ultimate Game, and finding out what happened to an old friend who died under mysterious circumstances soon after creating Black Arts’ breakout hit. Austin discusses the novel with his brother and fellow novelist Lev Grossman, author of the novels The Magicians and The Magician King. Join us for a conversation about the magic pull of video games with two talented brothers.
